Opus One Baron de Rothschild and Robert Mondavi, Napa Valley 0.75ltr
Robert Parker 98/100 Points
The Opus One emerged from a collaboration between Baron Philippe de Rothschild and Robert Mondavi in 1979. In 1981 a record was broken with the auction of a single box: the highest price ever paid for a California wine. “Opus” is a musical expression given to a composer's first masterpiece. Two days after Baron Philippe de Rothschild suggested the name, he also added the
word “One” to the name. This is how the wine that is recognized worldwide as the first American ultra-premium wine was born.
