Chateau Beychevelle, Saint Julien, 4ieme grand cru classé de Medoc 0,75ltr
94/100Robert Parker
The Grand Vin, the 2014 Beychevelle is a beautiful wine, with lots of crème de cassis, floral notes, undergrowth and forest scents. The wine has a pleasant sweetness and is medium to full-bodied, with ripe tannins and a nice texture and purity. Drinking window 2020-2040.
Beychevelle is called the Versailles of the Médoc because of its beautiful castle and beautiful gardens. The castle takes its name from the lowering of the sails (baisse voile) of the passing ships on the Gironde in tribute to its owner, Admiral Jean-Louis Nogaret de la Valette. Beychevelle is a wine loved worldwide and now owned by the Castel and Suntory company, the Japanese beverage giant. The dragon on the bow of the sailing ship is an extra incentive for many Asian wine lovers to purchase. A 4th Grand Cru Classé of size.
