Il Poggione, Montalcino, Tuscany 1,5ltr (also available on 0,75ltr)
94+/100 Robert Parker
Drinking window: Now until 2040 Magnum is the most ideal bottle size for imposing wine
Powerful, complex wine with a large concentration of dark fruit, notes of spices and chocolate. Velvety tannins and a long finish.
A great wine from a very good year 2017. Not as appreciated as all time best 2016 but a good successor. A beautiful wine to keep or to enjoy.
The winery Il Poggione is situated in one of the most beautiful terroirs in the world, on the hills around Montalcino. The history of Il Poggione goes back to the year 1890, when Lavinio Franceschi, landowner in Florence, decides to establish a winery in Montalcino. There he will make wines from the local Sangiovese clone Brunello, making him one of the first winemakers to launch the world-famous Brunello di Montalcino, as we know it today.
