Chateau Latour, Pauillac, 1er grand cru classé medoc 1855. 0,75ltr
About the Le Pauillac de Latour:
The picking started on September 11 and lasted until October 19. A beautiful Pauillac with a deep purple hue. Notes of juicy black fruit, a hint of pencil and aniseed with delicate floral hints. Medium-bodied, it is a lively wine thanks to its refreshing acidity, supple tannins and great fruit concentration. Good balance. 53% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, 7% Petit Verdot.
91/100 Robert Parker.
About Chateau Latour: Château Latour has played an important role in the history of the region. Over the centuries, many old documents about this winery have been preserved in the archives. This unique heritage shows an extraordinary stability and continuity in the estate and those who have worked there throughout the long history of Latour, which has undoubtedly been an important factor in the exceptional regularity and quality of the wines.
The oldest document mentioning Latour dates from 1331 and is an authorization given by Lord Pons to Gaucelme de Castillon to build a fortified tower in the parish of Saint Maubert. Château Latour then appears in 1378 in Jean Froissart's “Chronicles”. This was the time of the 100 Years War. The “Tour de Saint Maubert” was a fortress to guard the estuary, manned by Breton soldiers for the King of France. After a three-day siege, the Anglo-Gascon army seized the fortress and installed a garrison.
