Bodega LAN, Rioja Spain 0,75 ltr
The wine has an intense garnet red color with bright red tops. The nose is complex and attractive with ripe fruit such as plum, blackberry and blueberry and hints of cinnamon, cloves, coffee and cigar boxes.
This wine consists for the most part of Tempranillo, supplemented with Mazuelo and Graciano. The grapes are harvested manually from the 35 and 40 year old grape vines located in the Viña Lanciano area. After this, the grapes are selected manually so that only the best matured and most beautiful grapes come into the wine. Fermentation takes place in new French oak barrels. During this process, the skins are stirred weekly to add as much color and tannins to the wine as possible, and to achieve a fuller mouthfeel. The wine is aged for 7 months in new French oak barrels and then another 6 months in new Russian oak barrels. Bottled unfiltered, the wine has the opportunity to develop further in the bottle and best retains its subtle aromas and flavours. As a result, some natural sediment may remain in the bottle.
Founded in 1972, it is named after the initials of the 3 provinces in the Rioja: Logroño (now La Rioja), Álava and Navarra. The winery is located in the heart of the Rioja Alta, which is synonymous with tradition and prestige. Rioja's most spectacular vineyard, the viña Lanciano is located in a breathtaking meander of the River Ebro. The vineyard covers an area of 72 hectares where the climate, the river and the soil give the already exceptional grapes a unique personality. Vines of 60 years old are used to make the top wines of this winery.
