Dominio Pingus, Ribera del duero 0,75ltr
Robert Parker 100/100 Points !!
Without a doubt one of Spain's most famous winemakers. Peter Sisseck, of Danish origin, came to the then relatively unknown Ribera del Duero in the mid-90s as an oenologist. He had received his training from the innovators from Bordeaux (the so-called “vins de garage”) and knew better than anyone the potential of the Tinto Fino grape in this region. For a long time, Peter Sisseck vinified with his friend Pedro Cuadrado of Finca Villacreces – and until 2003 the grapes for the Flor de Pingus also came from this domain. Recently he has built his own installations not so far from Villacreces in Quintanilla.
Pingus is a cult wine that is vinified to a very limited extent. The first vintage was still vinified on the Villacreces domain in the 1990s. Very deep in colour, almost inky black. Complex, closed, after some rolling, the bouquet opens up and gives both concentrated fruit impressions of cherry and red currant. Vanilla notes in the background, leather and volatile tannins of its youthfulness. The totality of the fragrances is underpinned by responsible barrel maturation. Juicy, flavorful.
